Appearance
He resembles a large Japanese dragon composed of water, possibly of the same origin as the watery lands of which he is the caretaker.
Background Information
Issaley is the ancient caretaker of Rock River Canyon, from which he never leaves. He is fiercely dedicated to his duty in ensuring the canyon’s prosperity, and will not tolerate anyone or anything endangering its wellbeing. This has made him a force to be feared among any trespassers from the other tribes who have attempted to invade the canyon in the past. Despite his ferocity in battle, Issaley is also an exceedingly wise overworlder and can be quite benevolent to those who prove themselves trustworthy.
During the M'arillian invasion, the M'arillians launched a massive assault on the Rock River Canyon following their conquest of the Riverlands by the chieftain Erak'tabb. Though he fought fiercely against the invaders, Issaley was ultimately defeated and brainwashed into becoming one of the M’arillians’ minions, allowing them to successfully conquer the canyon. Fortunately, following Aa'une defeat and demise by Maxxor, Chaor, and Iparu at Lake Blakeer Issaley was free from the M'arillians’ mind control and helped drive out the remaining invaders. Following this, he would work with his fellow Overworlders, including Najarin, in detoxifying the pollution that the M’arillians had caused to the canyon’s water supply, restoring it to its former glory. Following this, he would dutifully continue his role as its steadfast guardian.

Trivia
- Issaley’s design is based off of depictions of dragons from East Asian mythologies, as can be identified by his serpentine body shape and unique beard.
- While dragons are present in multiple eastern Asian cultures, Issaley’s design can be identified as being primarily based on those from Japanese mythology, based on the number of claws he possesses, as Japanese dragons possess only three claws compared to the dragons of Korean and Chinese folklore, which possess four and five claws respectively.
- Additionally, in such cultures, dragons are viewed as fierce yet benevolent beings that hold power over water and are revered as guardian spirits or deities that dwell within and protect aquatic ecosystems, similar to how Issaley is a being composed of water and serves as the guardian caretaker of Rock River Canyon.
- Furthermore, such cultures also highly associate dragons with wisdom and ancient knowledge, which can be reflected in how Issaley’s wisdom serves as his highest possible stat.
