The Code Scanner is a device used in the hit TV series Chaotic.
Usage
When used in the animated series, the user uses this to scan new things, ranging from creatures to locations, and giving players the ability to communicate with each other. In order for the Scanner to transport the user to Chaotic, they must receive a special code to type into their Scanner. While active in Chaotic/ Perim the owner cannot use their online deck.
Other Functions
- Camera: Allows Players to capture images.
- Video Chat: Multimedia, enables Players to video conference each other.
- Proximity Detector: Allows players to detect incoming Creatures.
- Music Player: Players can hook headphones and listen to music.
- Flashlight
Scans
A scanner has 5 types of scan slots:
- Creature
- Battlegear
- Mugic
- Location
- Attacks
The scanners can only hold one scan of each type at a time before they are uploaded to the player's online deck. These slots can be locked to prevent something from being overwritten when attempting to scan something of the same type.
Scans can be only saved in Chaotic, and cannot be overwritten once saved.
Transportation
Chaotic players may use their code scanner to transport a copy of themselves between Chaotic and the real world, and between Perim and Chaotic. Chaotic can only be teleported into or out of by means of scanner, and can only enter and leave from special teleport pads in its "Port Court." Players cannot transport between the real world and Perim directly. If a Chaotic player is in Perim, they may use their code scanner to transport themselves to any location that they have a saved scan of. Scanners cannot be used for transportation by anyone other than the person who enters the Chaotic access code into them.
Merchandise
As mentioned above, there is a virtual Scanner given out at 4Kids.TV when Chaotic gets popular. Other merchandise includes 5 collectible tins with a piece modeled after the Scanner. They come in color code as follows:
- Overworld- Blue
- Underworld- Red
- Mepedian- Yellow
- Danian- Brown
There is also an exclusive Black tin. The Scanner case can hold 48 cards, the lower section can hold 200.
Trivia
- In the game Chaotic: Shadow Warriors, the Code Masters present Tom Majors with an advanced prototype Scanner (the design of which is only seen in the pause menu, and the opening sequence, of the console version) that is capable of producing solid holograms of the Creatures, Battlegear, Mugic and Attacks it scans, which are described as looking just like the real things, and is capable of holding more scans than a normal scanner. This allows the player in question to actively defend themselves from the various Creatures of Perim.
- Curiously, in the console version of the game, despite boasting a more advanced design, in the cutscenes, it has a much more simple design: being much straighter than a normal scanner, solid black in color, and has the Chaotic logo on the top-back, parallel to the front logo.
- In the original series of Season 1, Scanners all had the generic color of Red. However during Season 2 and 3, Scanners of Chaotic Players had been given distinct colors depending on which Tribe they mainly use for Chaotic Matches.
- UnderWorld Tribe - Red
- OverWorld Tribe - Blue
- Mipedian Tribe - Yellow
- Danian Tribe - Brown
- Many of the functions of the Code Scanner now exist in real world smartphones. Following the relaunch of the Chaotic game website, they even had an article detailing this, as well as their intentions to make a way for smartphones to work similarly to Code Scanners for the game.
